In the world of search engine optimization (SEO), we know content is an important part of establishing a strong online presence. According to Google's new 2020 algorithm update, the proof is in black and white. Content is king! To rank well on Google, you need informative, original content.
Many business owners have a blog page on their website. Maybe you’ve considered starting one but are unsure of the benefits of investing your time. COVID-19 has significantly changed our way of life. Now is the time to take the leap and start a blog for your insurance agency. Here’s why.
To Show Support for Your Community
As a business owner, you know how difficult it is to build a business from the ground up. For many small business owners, this temporary shutdown has caused a lot of uncertainty and financial worries. You can use your blog as a means for supporting your community and local businesses.
Feature these local business owners in your content. When you link to another business, you’re helping them by directing some extra web traffic their way. You could highlight local restaurants that are still open for delivery and carryout. Point people to online stores or list some donation links to give food, masks, and supplies. Share stories of how people in your community are helping others.
To Keep Your Clients Informed
With so many businesses closed temporarily, it can be difficult to discern who is open and who isn’t. Your first blog post should address this. Reassure your clients that even though your office is closed, you’re still there for all their insurance needs.
I recommend keeping your clients updated with blog posts. Make sure you’re emailing these blog posts out or posting them on social media. These updates should also reflect new hours of operation, contact information, or new resources pertaining to their health and safety.
To Establish a Rapport Through Advice and Tips
We are all human! When lives are turned upside down, we look to each other for advice and support. Everyone is already overwhelmed with the news and reports on COVID-19.
Be a breath of fresh air to your audience. Share some content that focuses on advice or tips for adjusting to the new normal. This is your chance to establish a great rapport through non-business-related content. It can be as simple as spring cleaning tips or how to stay focused while working from home. Or, how to entertain your kids indoors while on a budget.
You have a lot of creative freedom to reach people during this strange time. So, don't be afraid to put yourself out there! Just remember to be respectful and optimistic.
Blogging is a great way to help your clients through this situation. Above all, you want use blogging as a medium to show your support for your community. Make your company blog a resource for your community. Provide them with how you can help them, how they can reach you and any facts you know. Lastly, start the conversation. Offer any advice or tips you have for helping people through their circumstances.
